Born in Manhattan in 1933 Melvin Sokolsky is considered one of the most prominent photographers, known as an innovator, a pioneer in illusionary fashion photography, and at the same time his works are characterized as surreal.
In the golden days of fashion photography, he competed with the top Richard Avedon, and Irving Penn, collaborated with Francis Ford Coppola and Salvador Dali. His fantasy has been translated into the most outstanding fashion magazines.
One of his most famous projects is titled “Bubble”, which was recently photographed exclusively for Harper’s Bazaar.
His sense of fantasy and invention, surrealism and illusion lead him through the streets of Paris and New York, always lending something exotic, but never so compelling that they distract from the fashion.
